Fuzzy Antler Time
Just love this time of year. The racks are growing back while shaggy winter coats drop off just in time for the first heatwave of the year.

This guy and a bunch of his friends stopped by about an hour before sunset. They’re starting to shed their winter racks and coats. Love this time of year.
This big guy wandered through this morning just after sunrise. Never tire of watching them, especially this time of year. Svelt coats, fuzzy antlers, rippling muscles. Amazing, fascinating creatures.
Favorite time of year as they take on summer coats and new racks.
Elk strolling by our front porch is common here on The Orchard Compound. But this morning when a group of five bulls walked by, this guy’s freaky antlers caught my eye. Not a great shot – through a dirty window in the dark. But you can see it grew out sideways. Can he use it as a club?
