Stan & Joyce Orchard
Trying to figure it out since 1975.
A Trillion Trillium
Well, maybe not a trillion but compared to normal years, it’s a lot. We’re lucky to see one trillium in the spring. This year we found an abundance along our road. Spotted this morning on our 1.5 mile walk.
Jupiter, Moon, Sunrise
A nice little sky show about 45 minutes before sunrise this morning.
Three Amigos
These three have been hanging around our place for weeks. Never far away. We encountered them again this morning on our one mile walk. We did see one human today, a most infrequent sight these days.
45 Years Ago It All Began
On March 22, 1975 in Ketchikan, AK I was invited to dinner at the KTKN Program Director’s home. New in town, just started five days earlier, his wife served crab louie and asked her neighbor to join us. My life would never be the same.
River Walk
Today we chose the flat Cedar River Trail at Landsberg. Went 2.6 miles and we’re both bushed, but happy to be able to do it. Encountered maybe a dozen other souls, mostly runners, and we all kept our distance. It’s a new world.
Taylor Mountain Morning
Joyce Carol and I hiked a bit at Taylor Mountain Forest here in Hobart. A beautiful morning for some social distancing on a pretty much deserted trail system.
Skunk Cabbage Return
Like the swallows to Capistrano, skunk cabbage are blooming in Hobart. The world may be upside down right now, but this is a sign that life goes on.
Freaky Friday
It’s Friday the 13th, the coronavirus is running rampant, schools are closing, everything is cancelling, we’re all feeling down, and it’s snowing. Perfect.
Wile E., Wiley, or Just Scary?
The coyotes that frequently visit us never look like something out of Looney Tunes.
Fungus Among Us
These things always fascinate me, especially on a beautiful, sunny day.
