Our 15-year-old grandson got his first lesson on the chainsaw today. With our son coaching him and recording for posterity, I kept thinking of my dad and woodcutting during my youth and the years my son accompanied us on our own firewood adventures. Heating with wood takes a lot of work and commitment. The reward is a cozy home on the coldest days…and moments like this.
A little over two hours before sunrise. Mars and the moon look other-worldly through the heavy smoke hanging over the west coast. OH, wait! They are other worlds.
The annual harvest is well under way. Spotted them from Snohomish down to Buckley. Looks like a good crop this year. Great for s’mores.
Plants are blooming, pollinators are busy, nature is fascinating.
This little creature can be found lurking among the potted plants on our deck. Not at all bashful.
